To Write or Not to Write... But Why?

Hello, peeps!

Starting out on the writer and author journey is daunting. As with every passion, there is usually a motivating reason that keeps you going. Yes, it is an author's dream to get published and make a living off of it, but that is not the reality and it is not the reason I am here now writing you this message. So why do I write? I am so much more than just a writer, as I shared in a previous post. I love to dream big and sometimes I do have those doubts and think 'Who am I to publish a book?' and is my story that important?

The truth is, I am not here to sell you a book. I am here to share my story and even if my story only helps one person in the entire world, that is enough. I share my story so that if there is anyone out there that feels the way I felt, they can connect and not feel so alone. There is always someone who has gone through what you are going through and it's that feeling of being understood that can be a little light that gives us hope and keeps us going for just one more day. I was married, then got divorced and I survived it. I found the courage to pick up the pieces of my life and keep going. And boy, did I learn a lot! I traveled abroad and ended up moving to Thailand. I adapted to another culture, lived through the ups and downs of post-divorce, and found my happiness again.

I write because there were a few books that saved me along the way. Books that connected with me on such a deep level that it felt like I could have written them myself. We all want to be understood, so this is me understanding those in the same space as I was and hopefully giving them hope and encouraging them to take a step in a new direction.

We all need someone to believe in us at times, especially when we are hurting and feeling lost. So this is me, believing in you! We also need someone to remind us that life is not all 'doom and gloom' when we are spiraling but that there is so much more on the other side of this moment. There is life, love, adventure, friendship, mistakes that make you laugh, mistakes that make you cry, unplanned moments that change your life forever and so much more.

This is me. This is my journey. Thank you for being a part of it.

Love

Chené
